Funny Graffiti

This graffiti was spotted at Bandung train station, East sector wall. As a frequent user of this train station, this is the first time I saw this graffiti. No wonder, this sector are rarely to roamed by public, because most in this sector are repairing and maintenance facility. only the train station employee and few people are used to be in this sector.
I'm not really sure about what this graffiti tried to tell but I like the cute little train playing the remote control. It's quite strange tough, seeing this "kids play" graffiti, as the people around this spot are mostly adult and some "oil and grease  macho"  type mechanics. But it really fill the blank wall with some fun indeed..

Roemah Kopi - "The coffee House"

Roemah Kopi (Coffee House) at Dago Atas North Bandung. One of my favorite place to find any kind of black coffee. I regularly visit this place on weekend.
This time I'm going to try "Luwak" coffee, one of very strong black coffee in the coffee family. And have a very unusual story on its making process (more on this later)..

Kerjabakti - Social works and togetherness

We Indonesian people are attached each other socially in a way of harmony like a big family. Of course, I believe everybody in the world would do the same with their unique way, it just the different way of how Bandung country side people interact each other in a social basis. As a part of big family, we help each other, works together and gain the prosperity from cooperation.

This is what we called "Kerjabakti" a cooperative social works by the people of the country side usually to show, when there are something to build or to fixed in their village. Build a water channel for the paddy field, build a mosque or just fixing the land slide blocking the road. They do it together with no demands of payment or return. It involves a lot of people, men doing their "manly" things and the women, provide a lunch or just a fresh lemon tea.
Usually it held on sunday, when everybody are likely being at home. No need to be a professional to do this, just strong hands with the right tools and the social soul of course. Some times it just like a festival as the people from the neighbor village are drop by to help.
We do it socially, we do it for free, for the prosperity, and of course, we do it with fun..

Specially posted for MyWorld Tuesday, check the link for other great posts around the world.

The Orphan's Message

"Hang on me tight, starting from this line, I'm the one who will take care of you, Brother..."

This is one of my picture displayed by charity organization in my town on their orphan fund raising program once  in a while ago. They used my picture for their promo. I'm not a real photographer but I'm happy to help them saying the orphan's message. Now you can enjoy this picture here and I hope it will tell the exact same voice. "Don't let them lived alone."

Special Note

Oh dear, what would you feel if they were your children, two young elementary school girl risking their safety  by walking on a rail way near Cimindi's train station. I believe they know what to do if the train comes, but it doesn't seem right for me. I'm not a parent yet but I think I began to understand what they feel when the kids aren't home. Well Mommies, I guess its time for your wise words again.

I have to make a note for my fellow Indonesian viewer :

Para orang tua yang kebetulan melihat foto ini, jangan bosan untuk mengingatkan putra-putrinya untuk tidak melakukan ini, jika perlu silakan simpan foto ini untuk ditunjukkan dan dijadikan contoh kepada putra-putrinya untuk tidak ditiru dan dilakukan. Semoga bermanfaat.

Great mosque of West Java

This picture is dedicated to my buddy Mr. Leif Hagen (Eagan Daily Photo), who want to see the Great Mosque of West Java on a day light. Well this is it, the front side of the Mosque. As The capitol of west Java, this Province's Great Mosque is built at Bandung. At the front, there is a big park to sit and enjoy the city sky and many more. Lots of activity going on here in this park when I captured this picture. It's a very large and tall Mosque and park, and this is as far as I can go with my lens.

Great Mosque Tower at Day Light

This is the same view from Alun-alun Bandung, taken at the same spot from the picture I've been posted recently on Great Mosque's Tower at Night. This time it captured at day light. And the streets were never get loosened.

Hill view from the north

A hill view from Dago Atas, north side of Bandung. At the north, Bandung are surrounded by hills and mountain, covered by a lot of trees keeping Bandung away from "dehidration". Still one of favorite place to go.

Saturday I'm in Love

Well, actually they're the one who's in love here, not me, I'm the one who sits alone in the corner with my camera, tired after long ride with my bike I decide to take a break in a rest area along the sideways and found this  happy couple as they enjoy their Saturday evening together. Here, Saturday is a day for a loving couple to meet and have fun.  I'm pretty happy to capture the energy and bring it here for you.

Anyway, this is Saturday night, and the weekend seems still long way to ride, so why don't take their energy  with you and shows it to your lover one. If there is a best time to say "I love You", it would be right now.

Phoenix Cloud

This is my first edition of Sky Watch Friday. I think this one are rarely to happened. A giant bird shaped cloud. Captured near my house, looks like a phoenix bird to me maybe. I didn't do anything with the picture except a brightness/contras adjustment.

Sometimes I wonder, is there any science about a cloud? I mean, about how did they took a shape. A millions of tiny water molecule up in the sky are somewhat gathered as the wind blows. On a Statistically sense, those billions of molecules are scattered in a mighty wide area like the sky, so they should be everywhere in a random manner. The chance for it gathered in a particular place and forming any shape we could be familiar, would be even smaller, and the number are might be wouldn't make any sense. Maybe you have found it too in a different shape once in a while, but this time, a bird shape, Is this a coincident ? or there is a "hands of Artist" somewhere up in the sky creating a cloudy artwork. :)

Take a look for other great sky picture here at the Sky Watch Friday.

Great Mosque's Tower at Night

This is the view of Alun-alun Bandung  (Bandung Town Square) captured at night. Placed at Jalan Asia-Afrika and not pretty far from The Concordia building I've been posted before. The two tower in the picture are the twin tower of Bandung Great Mosque.

"Saung" : A little nostalgia

This is a real deal for me. As for few recent years it almost hard to find this kind of scene in the new face of busy Bandung. This is what we called "Saung", a Sundanese phrase for a common shelter usually placed near or in the middle of paddy or vegetable field. Used as a rest shelter for the farmer as they break from cultivating the field. Take a little nap, lunch or keep the seeds and farming tools on the upper chamber at the roof. Now it is almost hard to find it in a real scene, now people usually build the replica at their home backyard, at the culture center or the restaurant. For the recreational purposes only.

This shelter is found at the west of side of Bandung and still being used by a real farmer, pretty far away from the busiest spot. I don't know who really built it, but I'm happy with this one found, as it bringing back my childhood memory.

Biggest Sundial

This is the biggest sundial that I have ever seen. Placed at Kotabaru Parahyangan, Padalarang, west side of Bandung. It's unique shape and position direct the sunlight shadow into the particular date and month-marked position on it's surrounding floor. Resulting a sunlight calendar at the bright sunny day. It is also a museum of science placed inside the building. I'm not sure about it's accuracy but I rather like the shape and the color. Too bad my lens aren't wide enough to capture all the scene, it should be a 4 stack of colored trees and flowers surround this building that I can't show you.

Gedung Merdeka -- "The Concordia "

This is the world most famous architectural art deco in Bandung. Named "Gedung Merdeka" this building is an icon of Bandung. Built in 1895 by two famous architect C.P. Wolff Schoemaker and Van Galen Last, they gave a name "Societiet Concordia" for this building, at the very first beginning this building was a country club for the upper Holland society lived in Bandung on their occupational period. As the history continued, this building was  used fot hosting 3 times Aian-African Summit.
Rich with historical record, this building is still well preserved and maintain by the local Government. Now, this building is a Museum and a paradise for photo hunting, especially for the couple who want to make their wedding photo album.

The Trees

Something are become usual when we saw it many times. Like the streets toward your home. Feels nothing special about it right? Including my own at the first place. This picture are captured at the corner of the street near my house, very usual scene for me as i walk it hundreds of time so far. But something amazed me when I saw it from a lens point of view, I purposeless shot the scene, see the picture then i feel the different. Try it too and see the different.

Spider Web

Oh dear,... this city are definitely need more spaces. Space for the road, for the side walk, the stores, and the electric cable line!! it's everywhere and it looks like a spider web. This view are captured at the juction road in front of Cimahi Goverment Office and Town Center ("Alun-alun Cimahi). The satelite city at the west side of Bandung, 20 km away from the center of Bandung. So far, the traffic are very well controlled, but it won't last any longer. The unbalanced space distribution are the most famous problem in major of city in here.

Ladies, Are You Okay??

They are suppose to be very beauty, if they are a living women, but unfortunately not. Even they were detailed with high quality fashion and accessories, i don't think they have shown the charm of a woman. May be, an accessories are not the reason for a woman to become a beautiful lady.
This picture are captured at two different biggest shopping mall at Bandung, Istana Plaza mall and Cihampelas Walk. The place that offer a very nice concept of shopping in Bandung.

Uncolored Flower

What happened when a flower lose it's color? Can you still see the beauty?
I'm not sure, but here in Bandung, as the City being called "Flower City" of Paris Van Java, the flowers are somehow looks very different, even the highest quality of flowers could easily grow. long time ago, they're everywhere. Now, as the city grow it self in to a semi metropolitan, and the number of green garden are being eaten by the concrete building, I begin to ask why this city's name are still being related to the flower. It was really hard now to find it in the middle of the city. But when you can find one, here in Bandung, wherever it blooms, you'll see that the folwers still gives their own reason.

I Know What U Did Last Summer

Naah, its not what u think about this man, just my imaginative thought, just trying to find "a bell rings" to suit this scene. By the way about this picture, this man is a garbage collector, living from a trash thrown away around the street, and sell the re-useable material to the recycling company. This man is a really big help for the city, a gentleman who willing to live in the path that most people run away from. I think the credits should be pointed for this kind of man, not them who sat "undirtly" behind the sanitary office desk.
Capturing all the things happened in this city, Bandung. As an effort to contribute something, by giving the other point of view for this city, the view from a lens. Hope it will make a different, and the street around Jalan Sudirman, are somewhere to start.
